A-List Update

Okay so basically just wanted to let all you A-list lovers (myself included) that the tenth book in the series (California Dreaming) is out in stores! I haven't read it yet... But of course I can't wait to get my hands on it!

An Irresistible Series

The Pretty Little Liar Series
By: Sara Shepard

Pretty Little Liars-
This the first book in the series. So you become familiar with the characters and plot. The whole series is a mystery, so your getting the first few hints of what happened.

Flawless-
This is the second book in the series is pretty fab. Your still finding out more details about what happened. I like this series a lot because it gives you lots of ittle secrets every time you flip the page.

Perfect-
Okay, so this is the third novel in the series. By now your in l-o-v-e with the characters. (Just like me). Personally I can't wait to read the fourth and I believe the last novel in the series, when it comes out on May 27 2008!!!!

By the Author of The Devil Wears Prada

Everyone Worth Knowing
By: Lauren Weisberger
This book was pretty good. It had an amazing ending. I would highly suggest this book to anyone over the age of 13 or anyone who feels comfortable dealing with more mature circumstances. Highly suggested.

Author of the Week: Zoey Dean

Zoey Dean is author of the infamous A-list series. She writes about all the juicy gossip of L.A.'s hottest teens. She doesn't write your average pink books. Oh no, I would say she kicks it up a notch ..or two. I just picked my top four favorite books by her.

The A-List-
This is the first book in the series so it very intriguing. She draws you in with her catty and fun loving characters. And of course her plot thats to die for.

Back in Black-
This is the fifth book in the A-list series and it is as amazing as the ones that it has followed. But of course you'd have to read them to understand all the characters choices and attitudes. The books in order are as followed: Girls on Film and Blond Ambition and Tall Cool One.

Heart of Glass-
This is the eighth book in the A-list series but definitely not the last
in this wonderful series. Though its not my favorite its probably my second favorite because of the fantastic plot. Don't forget to read Some Like It Hot and American Beauty the sixth and seventh books in the series.

Beautiful Stranger-
This is the last published book in the A-list series and an absolute must read. It's my favorite because the ending is so intriguing because of the people Anna meets. You'd only understand my passion for this book if you read the whole series.

Unforgetable

Lucas-
By: Kevin Brooks
This book has a rather mysterious plot that you will be instantly drawn. Do yourself a favor and read this. I suggest this book to any preteen or teen who enjoys mysteries.

Humrous.. andTradgic?

The Boyfriend List-
By: E. Lockhart
This book was not my favorite but still very good. The plot was humorous and tragic and something that probably would never happen to anyone in the real world. But it was still a fun and an easy read for all girls over the age of 13.

An Eye Opener

Does My Head Look Big In This?
By: Randa Abdel-Fatah
I would highly suggest this book to any girls at any age. This books show the difficulties of being a Muslim teenage girl growing up in Australia. It digs deep into her feelings and explains a lot of the Muslim culture that people do not understand.

A Heart Warning Memoir

I Will Plant You A Lilac Tree-
By: Laura Hillman
This book is the memoir of Laura Hillman who is a Schindler's List survivor. This book explores Laura's memories of the Holocaust. Its a heart warming tale. But if you do not think you can handle some of the events I do not recommend it.

My New Favorite

Two Way Street
By: Lauren Barnholdt
I just finished this book on Saturday and I loved it. Barnholdt's writing is an awful lot like Sarah Dessen. Who is easily my favorite author. Due to explicit language I would definitely only recommended this to anyone over the age of 13. It is written in the point of view of Jordan (a boy) and Courtney so it makes for a very fun and interesting book. YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!

Fun Read

Caribbean Cruising-
By: Rachel Hawthorne
I have not read this book in awhile. I would as I own it, but a four legged creature called my dog got a hold of it. All I can remember is that I was rather fond of it. But I would only recommend it to girls over the age of 13.

A Beautiful Novel of Family

So B. It-
By: Sarah Weeks
I loved this book. Heidi is a beautiful character who has an interesting story to tell. You should listen and read this book.
"You couldn't really tell about Mama's brain just from looking at her, but it was obvious as soon as she spoke. She had a high voice, like a little girl's, and she only knew twenty-three words. I know this for a fact, because we kept a list of the things Mama said tacked to the inside of the kitchen cabinet. Most of the words were common ones, like good and more and hot, but there was one word only my mother said, soof."-So B. It

Romantic Comedy

Dairy Queen-
By: Catherine Gilbert Murdock
This book is pretty much the ultimate romantic comedy. I would highly suggest this book to any teens or preteens that enjoy the genre of romantic comedy.

"Because standing in front of his brand-new Cherokee in his brand-new
work boots, looking about as much a part of our junky old farmyard as a
UFO, was Brian Nelson. "- Dairy Queen

Louise Rennison; A Flop

Personally I found that the series Confessions of Georgia Nicholson was annoying. I was displeased with the fact that there was no plot and that if you didn't understand one of her made up words or word from her home. England, you were to look in the glossary. This got fairly tricky. Unfortunately I had to read three of her books for a school project, so I could not drop them. I would steer clear of these books.

An Oldie but a Goodie

The Outsiders-
By: S.E. Hinton
If you like action books I would definitely recommend this one. The characters are as intriguing as the actions filled plot itself. I would recommend this to any preteen or teen. It gets sort of violent so if you don't think you can handle it don't bother reading it.

One Book, Ten Authors

Click
By: David Almond, Edin Colfer, Roddy Doyle, Deborah Ellis, Nick Hornby, Margo Lanagan, Gregory Maquire, Ruth Ozeki, Linda Sue Park, Tim Wynne-Jones
Now I have read a lot of books in my years but this is my ultimate favorite book. It is hard to describe so you'll have to just trust me and read away.

Beautifully Written

Waves-
By: Sharon Dogar
This is the heart wrenching story of Hal and his family. It is written both in Hal's view of the present and his view of the last summer they spent at their summer home and his comotose sister Charley's view of the present and last summer. It's a hard book to put down and the characters are so believable it's sad.

A Learing Experince For All

The Boy Who Ate Stars-
By: Kochka
Translated by: Sarah Adams
This book is written in the point of view of a twelve year old girl who has a neighbor named Matthew who has Autism. Lucy talks about her caring experiences with Matthew. This book explores Autism and actually teaches you about something that thousands of people are going through right now. Its has compassionate characters that are emotionally intriguing.

"Matthew wasn't like anyone I'd ever met. He could be his own planet, become his own TV channel. Being with him was like sitting in a shouting whirlwind. He was a real mystery, and one I was determined to solve."- The Boy Who Ate Stars

Author of the Week: Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen is wonderful writer who writes in the genre of realistic fiction. My favorite part about Sarah Dessen's writing is that her characters are so easy to connect to and lovable. I have read all but one of her books and the following is a brief overview of my four favorites. Thats not to say I didn't love the other ones because I did. All the books are recommend to teenage girls but not preteens because I think that older readers will be able to appreciate her writing style more.

The Truth About Forever-
This is the first book I ever read by Sarah Dessen. It has a classic plot almost but with a modern twist with the characters.

This Lullaby-
I think that Remy the main character goes through a lot of what your average teenage girl gos through. This book might help some girls through some hard times.

Dreamland-
Dreamland deals with an important issue that pertains to more teenage relationships than you think. Which is very sad. This book is very profound and I wouldn't be surprised if something along these lines happened to Dessen herself.

Just Listen-
This book doesn't really seem to have a plot to me. But the characters are so lovable and you care so much about them it doesn't even matter. It also shows a hard time that teenage girls are often going through; Pressure from your parents.

A Modern Classic

By now you have probably heard of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. Possibly not read them yet? Well, you should.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants-
A book based mainly around the strong friendships of four girls. I personally found this book very good and heart warming. It helps that the characters are so easy to relate to. I recommend this book to all preteens and teenage girls who love stories that put a strong emphases on friendships. One of my guy friends read this book and said he thought it was "kind of a cool book." That means nothing to me but hopefully something to you guys!

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood-
This is the second installment of the Sisterhood series. To be honest with you it was my least favorite out of all four of the books. But it definitely wasn't bad it just had the least action. Again I recommend this to preteens and teenage girls and I suppose teenage guys as well.

Girls in Pants The Third Summer of the Sisterhood-
The wonderful this book in the Sisterhood series is aimed at a little bit more mature audience. This one and the fourth one are equally my favorites. This one has a tiny bit less action but I think the quality in the writing is better. Again I recommend this book to any girls over the age of 13.

Forever in Blue-
The fourth and final Sisterhood book is filled with girlie action and I loved it. A lot of the girls that I have talked to say that this was one of their favorite books they have ever read. And who can blame them? Certainly not me. Due to some sexual content in this book I am going to recommend it once again to any teenage girl over the age of 13.

The Pupose of This Blog

I have noticed at my school that not a lot of kids like to read. A lot of teachers make reading out to be something that only nerds do so kids generally don't take time out of their day even when its required. To me it shouldn't be required but hey! Reading is important for teens because it helps us understand one another better and it seems to help people with spelling. There is no good reasons not to read so stop making excuses! One of my favorite reasons why people don't read is that they don't have time. This is the worst excuse in the world. You can read well you wait for your shower to heat up or on you way to and from school. Another excuse is that you don't know what to read. Well I'm about to fix this. This blog will be full of all different types of books for teens of both genders to enjoy.
